Evolution

About two years ago, I started eating oatmeal and peanut butter every morning for breakfast. I read oatmeal was good for and lowers your cholesterol. Eventually, I started adding raisins to the oatmeal and peanut butter, and then a banana. Two years later, I only eat peanut butter, raisins and a banana, and skip the oatmeal completely.

Curious George

At the gym every exercise machine has it's own individual monitor. Most the time I don't watch TV, I just run on the tread mill staring mindlessly out the window. But somedays I bring my earphones. But there is never anything on I want to watch... NJ News 12, Music Videos, Uber-Dramatic Portuguese Soaps, Court Shows...umm no thanks. So typically I find myself watching Curious George and being amused. He's a funny little guy, especially his monkey talk.

Recession? Depression? Where?

The economy can not be that bad. Yesterday, during those fleeing hours, after my weekly decision to quit this film career thingy for the sixtieth time, I glanced at the jobs available on the Analytic Recruiting Website. A search on "credit" and "default" results in almost 100 job offerings in New York City Area ALONE! I'd be somewhat qualified for at least half of them. All most all of them pay in the six figures. How can this be a depression or even a recession? There are plenty of jobs.

Paper Route Gangstaz - Alabama

Southern Rap is my favorite by far. "Paper Route Gangstaz" remind me a bit of "Goodie Mob".

Only 40% More to Go

I don't think we'll get there, but I do think the S&P still has a bit more to fall. Over the next three months, it should bottom at about 650. Of course, that's just a guess. Then it'll be time to start buying, or NOT. The precipitous decline in October 2008 is what is disturbing.

The 1973-74 oil crash and 2000-02 tech crash isn't really comparable. During those crashed there wasn't a financial crisis. The current financial crisis is constraining credit and limiting firm from expanding, which in turn means less jobs in the future, and less consumer spending. Times are going to be tough.

Expect a HUGE jobs program come January.

How Clueless is Palin?

Bush Completely Ignored at World Conference

Everyone says the 2008 was a milestone election, for me the 2004 election was much more significant. I couldn't believe the nation would vote him back into office after lying about the Iraq war. After learning he was reelected for a second term, I was numb for two weeks.

Now after a second term of Bush - if you voted for him and lost your home, job or 401K, etc. - all I can say is that you deserve what you voted for. Be PROUD of the ongoing absolutely senseless war in Iraq costing billions of dollar a month and the current economic crisis.

Looks Like SNL Might Have Found Their "Obama"

The End

The era that defined Wall Street is finally, officially over. Michael Lewis, who chronicled its excess in Liar’s Poker, returns to his old haunt to figure out what went wrong.

Many claimed after 9-11 the world as we have known it has changed. It did for a while, and then most of the fear came from the Bush Administration, as they tried to instill fear in everyone to justify their actions. Now seven years later, we realize the world hasn't changed that much. Obama should put us back on the right track internationally and restored much of the U.S.'s tarnished image aboard.

The same goes for Wall Street. Many are claiming Wall Street has changed forever. It's seems like a plausible claim right now, but in the long run, Wall Street will not change. Jeremy Grantham was asked on October 13th would we would learn from this financial crisis. His answer, which I totally agree, "We will learn an enormous amount in the short term, quite a bit in the medium term, and absolutely nothing in the long term." Wait 7 to 10 years and Wall Street will be back to it's old self. It seems implausible right now, but that's the historical precedent.

Here's Why Palin Didn't Give A Press Conference

This is a clip by Fox News! Even the Republican's are desperately trying to get Palin to fade away. But she won't go! It's as if the election were a top rated Reality TV Show of the summer/fall season and Sarah Palin the Reality Star.

But as history has proven all Reality Stars essentially, have only 15 minutes of fame and then fade away. Unless, of course, they are Paris Hilton. Sarah Palin could be the new Paris Hilton. A large part of Palin's intrigue comes from the notion that her 15 minutes are over and everybody knows it, EXCEPT her.

Veterans Day

President-elect Barack Obama, right, hugged Iraq war veteran Tammy Duckworth after a wreath laying ceremony at the Bronze Soldiers Memorial in Chicago in honor of Veteran's Day. Ms. Duckworth is the director of the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs.

President Bush starts the war under false pretenses, and now President-elect Obama must undo the mess.

Palin Taking the Heat

...for inciting white supremacist groups and death threats against Obama and his family in mid-October. The secret service warned Obama and his family of the increased threats.

It became clear at the end of the campaign that McCain wanted to be above playing the "race" card, but instead he played the "terrorist" card. Now it seems clear the McCain/Palin "terrorist/anti-American/Ayers" legacy will be a part of history like George H. Bush's "Willy Horton" and the George W. Bush's "Swiftboat" legacies. The only difference, the two Bushes won their particular campaigns, McCain did not.

And The Polls Say...

The probability of Obama winning 98%.
The probability of McCain winning 2%

The race was over last week. All is left is the News Media trying to "make" News at this point.

The real question is by how much is Obama going to win? And how many House and Senate seats the Democrats are going to pick up.

It does appear that Obama lost some states like NC, MO and IN during the last couple of weeks, due to the "Joe the Plumber" push from the McCain campaign.

Here's the predictions:

FiveThirtyEight: Obama 349 vs. McCain 189
Electoral Vote: Obama 353 vs. McCain 185
Real Clear Politics Obama 338 vs. McCain 200
Politico Obama 338 vs. McCain 200

All a candidate needs is 270 electoral votes. Unless every poll is wrong. Obama has already won.
