Newark Makes History

NEWARK — For the first time in more than 40 years, an entire calendar month has come and gone without a homicide in the state’s largest city.

It's been 32 days since a homicide took place in Newark, marking the first time there has been a slay-free calendar month in the city since 1966.

More here.

I Got Read

Female Interviewer: "There is no way that after traveling around the world and with a Ph.D. that you want to do this job."

Me: "Yes, I do".

(brief pause)

Female Interviewer: "I don't believe you."

By far female interviewers are more intuitive. But why don't they understand, I searching for employment. Granted I had a bunch of fun over the past five years, but it time to return to work (i.e. earning a paycheck) mode.

"Revolutionary Road".

"The hopeless emptiness? Now, you’ve said it. Plenty of people are on to the emptiness, but it takes real guts to see the hopelessness... Wow." - John Givings, "Revolutionary Road".

The Benefits of Adopting

Tennessee woman returns child to Russian with a note stating "take him back".
The boy was only 7, but he walked off the plane that arrived in Moscow from Washington all alone, carrying a knapsack with magic markers and candy, along with a single typewritten note. It was from a woman in Tennessee who had adopted him in Russia last year, became overwhelmed by what she described as his emotional problems and now wanted nothing more to do with him. Take him back, the note said.
Lesson: if you want children, adopt them. If they misbehave, you can always threaten to send them back.

For me? It's not even my birthday!

Your sacrifice pleases me.

Do you have a little brother??

It's really amazes me how many crimes of molestation, lying, sexual abuse, and stealing that clergy take part in every week This Week in Holy Crimes. I don't understand what people see in these creeps. If you want to read the bible read it. Why join a Church just to have these creeps read it to you? It doesn't make sense.

I understand back in the day, when many people were illiterate, the church used it power to create fear. But today, most people can read. Why is it necessary to have clergy read the bible and tell you what it says?
