Salt Cathedral of Zipaquira

Zipaquira is a little city 49 Km from Bogota-Colombia, Zipaquira has become in one of the most important tourist destinations for visitors from Bogota, Colombia; it is a former salt mine that has been converted in a cathedral by local and Colombian engineers. This large church constructed over 60m (200 ft) underground in the tunnels and caves of an old salt mining operation.

After walking along the sacred axis (Stations of the cross), visitor are able to observe the different stations of the Salt cathedral, then descend to the cathedral depths and ultimately arrive to the great central dome where is possible to see the biggest cross underground, the greatest hall for the ceremonies of the cathedral and a nice boulevard.
