The Mausoleum was originally built in 1193. It’s the finally resting place of Saladin - or to give him his proper Islamic name Salah ad-Din (‘restorer of the faith - was one of the greatest heroes of Arab history. Salah ad-Din defeated the Crusaders during numerous battles during the 11th Century.
