Day 2 - Yangon to Kyaiktiyo

We started the day with a visit to the famous golden stupa of the Shwedagon Pagoda, the "heart" of Buddhist Myanmar, which is believed to be 2,500 years old.

Later, we travel through the delta and over the Sittang River to Kyaikhtiyo where we visited the famous Golden Rock and overnighted at a local hotel.

The small stupa, just 24ft high, sits atop the Golden Rock, a massive, gold-leafed boulder delicately balanced on the edge of a cliff at the top of Mt Kyaiktiyo. When the boulder is bathed in the purple, sometimes misty, light of dawn and dusk, it looks stunning.
