Day 5 - Mandalay - Mingun - Sagaing

In the morning, traveling by boat along the mighty Ayeyarwady River, we visited the former capital of Amarapura (Sanskrit for "Beautiful Town") and the village of Mingun.

Mingum Bell- It was the heaviest functioning bell in the world at severalties in history.

Covered with 600 white-painted pagodas and monasteries, in the afternoon we visited Sagaing Hill which is widely regarded as the religious centre of Myanmar. It is home to 3,000 monks and 100 meditation centres. We visited pagodas such as Swan Oo Pon Nya Shin and U Min Thone Sae while in the area and view the pagodas and monasteries dotting the landscape down to the Ayeyarwady River.

In the evening, we walked over the world´s longest teak bridge, U Bein, which is a 1km bridge in believed to be the oldest and longest teak bridge in the world. Built from reclaimed wood from a royal palace, there are 1,086 pillars rising from the water, though, not all are original.
