Djemila
Another day and another roman ruin! :-) “Djémila” (the beautiful one), formerly “Cuicul” is located near the northern coast east of Algeria, where some of the best preserved Berbero-Roman ruins in North Africa can be found found including two basilicas and a covered baptistery. . Having visited a number of roman related ruins in Cyprus, Malta, Libya and Tunisia recently, and now Algeria, plus listening to an audiobook on roman history and perusing web postings, my knowledge of the Roman era has leaped light-years, but the speculative nature of the history makes it even more difficult to fully comprehend. For example, the audiobook’s author states some believe it’s “this", other believe it’s “that” and still other believe it’s “something else” base on stone carved writings found from 150 BCE. LOL. Okay.
