Tipaza
After arriving in Algiers and meeting my guide, ahead of the weekly peaceful demonstration beginning, we visited to the Roman sites of Tipaza an UNESCO heritage site. The archaeological site has “largest basilica in North Africa” (which was not very impressive) and the Basilica of St. Salsa, who was a local martyr in the 4th century and the near-by museum. The archaeological site’s “heyday” was around the 3rd Century AD, when the Republic of Rome converted to Christianity. It was very common for basilicas to be constructed in most Rome Cities during this period.
