Three Types of Travel

I generally participate in three types of travel:

Group tours which involves a fixed itinerary that focuses on the highlights of a country with a group. The other travelers in the group typically have similar interest. However on these trips it's difficult to meet locals, nor is there a lot of free time to explore independently

Private tours which again is typically focused on a country’s highlights, but can be tailored to my personal preferences and interests, since I'm the sole client. The downside of these trips, is that the guide focuses 100% on myself! It can get to be a bit overwhelming.

Non-tour travel is where I generally book an Airbnb and stay in one location for a week and organize day trips from this central location. This option allows for a lot more interaction with locals. It is generally the best option when scuba diving is the focus of the agenda or the area to be explored is relatively small like Malta or Cyprus, for example.
