Arrived in Republic of Marshall Islands

In almost 3 years of travel, I had my second incident of missing luggage. My first was when I returned to the USA via Boston to Newark and my luggage was left in Boston. No big deal.  The airline sent my missing luggage the next day to Newark and FedExed it to my residence. I was home and not really worried.

In Marshall Islands, the only bag left on the baggage belt was a black North Face duffle bag, but it wasn't mine. It appeared someone took my bag by mistake. I filed a report around 10:30am and asked the baggage crew to let me know if and when it's returned.

Around 4pm, I still didn't hear back from the airport and I was walking past a United Airlines Office,  so I stopped in to inquire. The island is very small, less than 40k long and not very wide. The island doesn't have wireless cell service either, otherwise I would have called the airport myself.

The United Airlines office called the airport. The airport said my duffle bag was returned at around 12 noon and an employee would drop it off at my AirBnB around 5pm on his way home. I was furious. Why didn't they call me at noon and tell me this? As the day passed, I started thinking my duffle bag was really stolen and I wasn't getting it back.

In the end, I received it back and nothing missing.

It was returned.
