I applied for a visa at the Venezuelan Embassy in Mexico City with a USA passport via email last June. They provided the exact application pdf format, and their responses were prompt—often replying within a few hours or the next day. After two corrections, they accepted my application as complete. On December 9th, I received an email stating that I was approved for a 90-day visa, starting from the day I picked it up. They also informed me that I had to collect it within 90 days (before March 9th).
In February, I contacted the Embassy to inform them that I planned to visit on March 4th to pick up my visa. I received no response to two emails. I then asked a friend to visit the Embassy in person. When he went, they confirmed that my visa was approved but told him to tell me not to visit the Embassy to pick it up until they contacted me again. I followed up the nect day with an email, and they responded with the same message—they confirmed my approval but told me to wait for further instructions before collecting the visa. Apparently, they were unable to issue it at that time.
Since my approval expires on March 9th, I’m unsure if I’ll need to reapply or if they will grant me an extension. For now, I’m just waiting to see what happens.
