Newark Makes History

NEWARK — For the first time in more than 40 years, an entire calendar month has come and gone without a homicide in the state’s largest city.

It's been 32 days since a homicide took place in Newark, marking the first time there has been a slay-free calendar month in the city since 1966.

More here.

I Got Read

Female Interviewer: "There is no way that after traveling around the world and with a Ph.D. that you want to do this job."

Me: "Yes, I do".

(brief pause)

Female Interviewer: "I don't believe you."

By far female interviewers are more intuitive. But why don't they understand, I searching for employment. Granted I had a bunch of fun over the past five years, but it time to return to work (i.e. earning a paycheck) mode.

"Revolutionary Road".

"The hopeless emptiness? Now, you’ve said it. Plenty of people are on to the emptiness, but it takes real guts to see the hopelessness... Wow." - John Givings, "Revolutionary Road".

The Benefits of Adopting

Tennessee woman returns child to Russian with a note stating "take him back".
The boy was only 7, but he walked off the plane that arrived in Moscow from Washington all alone, carrying a knapsack with magic markers and candy, along with a single typewritten note. It was from a woman in Tennessee who had adopted him in Russia last year, became overwhelmed by what she described as his emotional problems and now wanted nothing more to do with him. Take him back, the note said.
Lesson: if you want children, adopt them. If they misbehave, you can always threaten to send them back.

"Fresh meat" ¡Carne fresca!

For me? It's not even my birthday!

Your sacrifice pleases me.

Do you have a little brother??

It's really amazes me how many crimes of molestation, lying, sexual abuse, and stealing that clergy take part in every week This Week in Holy Crimes. I don't understand what people see in these creeps. If you want to read the bible read it. Why join a Church just to have these creeps read it to you? It doesn't make sense.

I understand back in the day, when many people were illiterate, the church used it power to create fear. But today, most people can read. Why is it necessary to have clergy read the bible and tell you what it says?

Wow. What a Pic

A God he was around 200 and 5, indeed. Look at the pic published in the NY Times . Does it get any worse? Check out the beam of light. Dang. And he's OLD!! :) But he claims no wrong doing. Hence, no wrong doing was done.

Teabaggers

Yes, I'm doing the same as the NY Times, marginalizing the teabaggers. We all marginalize those who threaten our view of the world and haven't made the same choices we have made in our life. We are never really confident of our own choices, therefore we have to put down other who don't share the same view or have made different choices to feel better of ourselves.

The Day The NY Times Changed, At Least for Me.

Back in the day, we'd all watch network News to "understand" the world around us. Supposedly it was objective. Then about twenty years ago Fox TV/News appeared. News became a point of view. If you don't read or refuse to educate yourself then Fox News confirmed your belief of the world. People who hate change and love fear watch Fox News. The world can be a scary place, indeed, to some. People who love change and try to educate themselves watch other News channels. However, neither is "right". They are just different views of the same world.

In general, hate and fear are stronger human emotions. If human's weren't afraid we'd all be dead. Fear keeps us alive as a species. And that is why Fox News has been so successful. So if you can't beat them join 'em, right. What seems to be selling these day is to offer a view that "confirms" one's beliefs. And it's seems like the NY Times has skipped tracks to do so.

With the recent articles about the Pope and this racist article, it appears that the NY Times is becoming MORE biased. They seem to be writing for it's readers; writing to confirm their reader's beliefs. This formula seems to be working for Fox News and the Huffington Post, right? So, why not the NY Times?

The NY Times has mega financial problems. This is one way to generate revenue. To achieve objectivity in the News readers/watchers now have to read/watch various sources - each source represents a point of view - then we'll have to decide for themselves.
