Noumea, New Caledonia felt like it could be a resort city in Florida. We visited a boat marina, upscale open air vegetable market with Whole Food Quality produce, a cultural center with very modern architectural buildings supposedly representing traditional houses, a French restaurant for lunch, a zoo-like park and then the Maritime museum which was absolutely boring. After lunch I would have preferred to visit the Art Museum and Aquarium, but they weren’t on the schedule and there weren’t any taxies in the city, which seemed very odd.
