Turtle Island (aka Selingan Island)
We reached Turtle Island prior to noon in time for lunch. After lunch there was no set agenda, only relaxing, wandering and enjoying the island, until after dinner when we witnessed a very large greenback turtle laying eggs (actually falling out of the turtle’s “butt”!). Then once the eggs were laid, the park ranger moved them to the incubation area to prevent visitors to the island from stepping on them. Egg are placed in the incubation area daily. From the eggs that were placed in the incubation area 60 days earlier hatchlings emerged. Upon hatching we witnessed the hatchlings scurry to the sea.
