Massawa
Eritrea is a very unusually country, both culturally and geographically. The capital is about 2,325 metres (7,628 ft)above sea level. It’s fairly cold in the evenings and rains frequently. The coastal town of Massawa is at sea level. It’s extremely hot and humid. The two cities are only 120k (75 miles) apart. The town of Massawa located on the southern part of the Red Sea has clearly seen better economic times. Now most of the buildings are boarded shut and the population sparse, but the sunset and sunrises were amazing as was the mountain scenery we passed along the way to and from Massawa.
