Maldive's National Museum

Overall the National Museum was very disappointing, but since it was very near my hotel and I passed it a number of times while walking around Malé, I decided to visit it.

The history of the Maldives in the museum really didn't start until Islam arrived in the 7th and 8th century.

My brother received a similar typewriter for his birthday when he was in High School in the late '70s. Now such typewriters are on display in museums. UGH

Clearly, placing the whale shark and sea turtle on recent Moldavians currency highlights the significance of the sea life to the local economy.  Maldives (and Palau) both have realized protecting sea life will generate longterm tourism income over the sea animal's life, as opposed to a one time capture, kill and sell the carcass.
